Select the activity tab of the ribbon and activate the access key. Alt or F10. Press either of these two keys again to move back to the document and cancel the access key.

Insert characters by using character codes
Inserts the Unicode character corresponding to the specified Unicode (hexadecimal) character code. For example, to insert a Euro currency symbol, type 20AC, then press and hold down Alt while pressing X. Character code, Alt+X
Understand the Unicode character code of the selected character Alt+X
Inserts the ANSI character corresponding to the specified ANSI (decimal) character code.For example, to insert a Euro currency symbol, press and hold Alt while pressing 0128 on the numeric keypad. Alt+ character code (on the numeric keypad)
Extend the selection
Turn on extended mode. F8
Select adjacent characters. F8, then press the left or right arrow
Increase the size of the selection. F8 (please press once to select a word, press twice to select asentence , and so on)
Reduce the size of the selection. Shift+F8

Extend the selection to the right by one character. Shift+right arrow
